While the 'Fit to Work' note may grab headlines, we recognise how rehabilitation services and employer adjustments can be critical in enabling someone to return to work and to settle into it safely. Not simply by addressing specific health barriers or perceived threats to the individual's safety but also providing a source of information and support to both employer and employee.
Rehabilitation and adjustment in order to return to work
'Rehabilitation embraces an array of activities by a variety of professionals, with medical specialists usually to the fore, yet with the line manager as a vital part of its success. The concept refers to ways of helping a person to become more capable and confident doing what is important to them, after a period of injury or illness.
Our contributions are of three kinds:
- comprehensive ergonomic risk assessments for Musculo-skeletal Disorders - we have substantial experience of providding practical guidance to adjustments in factory, office, laboratories, call centres and distribution warehouses;
- counselling to assist with adjustments in patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour especially in the aftermath of a traumatic incident at work or associated with it;
- Career change: psychological assessment and coaching. after a workplace injury
We have considerable experience as expert witnesses in perconal injury claims related to diverse work environments.
Rapid turnaround and transparency
Our Administrator aims to respond to your initial inquiry within 1 hour and manages progress of each rehabilitation case carefully.
We pride ourselves on being able to present you with a proposal for a psychological or ergonomic service including fixed costs and timescales, within 24 hours;
We appreciate how employees-in-rehabilitation and their managers like to be seen quicly and we can normally offer an initial appointment within 10 to 14 days of instruction;
All written reports are submitted to you within 1 week of the assessment date.
Our people work to the agreed costs and time schedule and we notify you immediately if any additional work is required. We would undertake this once we receive your agreement.
Performance development
We provide management briefigns and staff team training where it is necessary to change prevailing cultural beliefs and expactiations about 'fitness to work'. This includes assistance with team relations management, problem-solving, communications and stress management.
We are qualified to administer Adult IQ tests, not only for occupational selection and but also for adaptive or remedial education and development (e.g. WAIS)
Tools for Modified Work
Return to work services we provide are tailored to your needs. Our preferred method is to introduce you to the Tools for Modified Work methodology developed by a multi-functional team of specialists. To ensure that each intervention is as approipriate and effective as possible, we can conduct home visits as well as workplace studies; and where appropriate, liasise with and on behalf of management with other specialists.
