Ergonomics - the 'Human Factors' perspective
The word 'ergonomics' comes from two Greek word: 'ergos' for 'work', and 'nomos' for 'laws'. Ergonomics ensures a correct fit between people, the equipment they use, the environment they work in and the tasks they do.
Ergonomics - also called 'human factors' - is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of the interactions among humans and other elements of a system. Professionals working in ergonomics apply scientific theoretical principles, data and methods to design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance.
As human scientists, ergonomists contribute to the planning, design and evaluation of tasks, jobs, products, organizations, environments and systems in order to make them compatible with the needs, abilities and limitations of people.
The payoff
Your business can gain in many ways by assuring the level of reliability of the match between products or services you sell and needs of your target users, on the one hand; and of the match between your own employees and the furniture, equipment and handtools you allocate for their use. Such reliability can add a lot of value both during production and in the marketplace
We help clients to improve the payoff on their investments in developing new products or services and in adapting existing ones. And, even more, we help them to improve their levels of productivity, safety and wellbeing of their people by optimising their equipment and working conditions and by coaching leaders to reap the advantages from their investment. We have helpded to improve working conditions in offices, laboratories, distribution and manufacturing facilities, to contribute to community and publci safety as well as to support and stimulate the performance of leaders in them.
'Adaptive Ergonomics' Options
Product innovations, job processes, manufacturing tools, machinery configurations and computer technoology will also continue to evolve. We are dedicated to researching and applying appropriate ergonomic techniquss to make people's job efficient and safe.
Our 'Adaptive Ergonomics' process plays an important role in identifying what workplace actions are necessary to deliver the desired outcomes.
